Tim Wu is a freelance director, dp and steadicam operator based in New York. An associate member of the SOC and a member of the IATSE Local 600 camera union, Tim has been fortunate enough to make a living pushing the little red button on cameras and pointing them at things.
His clients as a commercial director of photography & camera operator have included Maybelline, Microsoft, The Food Network, Xbox, Land ‘O Lakes, Animal Planet, MTV, and many more. His union assistant and utility credits have included White Collar, Breathe In, Disconnect, New Year’s Eve and The Dictator. Tim was recently a union DP for an MTV VMA promo featuring Key & Peele, and was also a second unit DP for the Taylor Hackford ABC pilot Dangerous Liaisons.
His directing and producing clients have included companies like Campbell’s, Hormel, A&E, FYI, Lifetime, PepsiCo, Smartwater and Billboard as well as serving as an executive producer overseeing operations at his production company Illium Pictures and all its clients.
While his rate has varied, he has known to be easily swayed by the idea of unlimited seltzer on set… especially Polar Granny Smith and Polar Grapefruit seltzer…
